We have two decision making strategies at work within our brains. one system is logical, but it's slow and it operates at the conscious level, the other functions just below the conscious level and processes information quickly-it communicates indirectly with us through weird channels like our sweat glands. Whenever you leap to a conclusion, whenever you dial your ex at mid night, whenever you meet some for the first time you use that second part of your brain. Its that gut feeling you have that tells you something is amiss, you may not have any facts to justify your feelings. But you have a hunch.
Because this feeling is so strong and you processed the information quickly you may be tempted to think that the feeling came first. The part of our brain that processes information quickly is referred to as our adaptive unconscious, this is not to be confused with the place Sigmund Freud often talked about-which dark and murky. Our Heartmath Institute our hearts have a brain that possess a powerful electromagnetic field and nervous system circuitry that generates 60 times more amplitude than the grey matter between our ears.
Aligning our thoughts and heart makes us a force to be reckoned with. Learning to live in harmony with your mind and spirit can literally transform your life. Athletes refer to this as being in the zone. Learning to quite the chatter in our heads and incorporate both brains will enable you to stick to your diet. But what typically happens is we logically set up a plan, we know the decision will have a positive impact physically mentally and emotionally. But we don’t stick to the plan. Why? Because we haven’t aligned our heart and mind in the process, for sustained change we need emotional power of our feelings which is 60 times more powerful than “The New York Four” to overcome the change.
Thinking alone is not enough to overcome a challenge, but it starts the process. When you engage in the daily disciplines you will make the leap from thought to accomplishment. Through the power of creative visualization you incorporate your heart and mind in the process of change and it pulls you into the future. The clearer you are in your thoughts and align your spirit you will reach a point of confluence. We are thinking feeling acting beings. Our thoughts come first then our feelings follow.
