First car memories

Ahhh, my first car. The one I received after graduating high school would be it! I got to pick it out at the dealership, and boy was I excited! There it stood, the 1998 Chevy Cavalier sedan in hunter green. Oh, how I loved that car!

At the time, it met my needs. All I needed it for was to drive to work and to the store. It took a long time to convince my parents that I even needed how to learn how to drive so that I could have my own car! In the end, my car was the best thing for me, because it helped me gain my independence when it was long overdue. It helped me not have to rely on my dad to be my ride, and made me feel important.

I went through many adventures in my car, including the time I got lost on my way to church and ended up about an hour south of the city. Then there was another time I almost had a collision-with two cars-but never did. To this day, I feel I had my guardian angel watching over me in that instant. My car handled well in the snow, though I never have been keen on driving in inclement weather. The one time I did during a snow storm, I was driving home from work and had to pick up my daughter from daycare. By the end of my destination, I was confident in knowing my car and how it handled in snow. It was like I could read its mind.

When I finally sold my car to upgrade to a more family-oriented vehicle, it was a time for mixed emotions. I was somewhat reluctant to give up my precious baby who was with me through 8 years of memories. Immediately when it was gone, I missed the sound of it turning on and idling. Yes, I'll never forget that car. It really became my friend.
