Astrology is a fascinating field to study. There is basic information to learn about astrology, but the truth is that learning astrology is a life-long pursuit as there is always something new to learn from the ever-changing planets and stars. Some simple terms can be learned to have an understanding of an overview like the zodiac, birth-chart, horoscope, elements, aspects, the ruling planets, and signs. Knowing the definition of these terms will get you on your way to knowing astrology 101.

Zodiac comes from the Greek meaning circle of life. There are twelve signs and therefore every person has been born one of the twelve zodiac signs. The zodiac is made up of twelve signs starting from the first, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Aries starts one the left-hand side in the middle and then segments of thirty degrees makes up each sign and lays out in the order above in counterclockwise fashion ending with the end of Pisces touching the beginning of Aries.

The birth-chart is a chart made up by a professional astrologer or computer software that generates where the planets and signs were the day, time, and place you were born. “ As above, so below” is a term used in astrology expressing the correlation between what is going on with the planets and stars with what is going on here on earth naturally and psychologically with us. A professional astrologer can read your birth chart and guide you towards your destiny as well iron out difficulties you may not understand about yourself.

Horoscopes are daily thoughts about each individual signs that astrologers put out based on what is going on with your particular sign in relation to planets that day. Not every planet is happy passing through every sign so that is why there are certain days your horoscopes may be good and some days there not so good.

Getting a little specific the signs are broken down into four elements. Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are the earth elements. Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces are the water elements. Aries, Leo, Sagittarius are the fire elements, and Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are the air elements. They each represent a way of being, earth materialistic, water feeling, fire action, and air communicative.

Aspects are the connections of one planet and another in your birth-chart that make your life easier and more difficult. An astrologer can look at the aspects in your birth-chart and
