Poetry: A silent scream

by Carol P. Bartlett

Created on: January 05, 2011

You pushed me up against the old wooden door,

You held me down and taped up my mouth,

I tried to scream, but it was silent.

You ripped my clothes off unto the floor,

My scream was silent when I tried to shout

I couldn't understand what this was all about.

Marriage was suppose to be so much more than this

wasn't it called wedded bliss?

Why didn't you treat me this way,

when we were out on a date.

You showered me with gifts,

and always sent me flowers.

Now I'm nothing more than a pawn,

I will not live this kind of life,

full of pain and humiliation and strife.

My heart was aching deep inside

I was full of silent screams!
