Online Dating Advice - Looking Ourselves in the Mirror

As someone who delves into every aspect of online dating day after day, there is a common theme among disgruntled online daters that I see all the time.  People become angry at the online dating sites for not finding what they are looking for or having any successful dates.  In fact, many will blame the site entirely if they fail to even garner one date, often making accusations of sites putting up fake profiles or not working properly.

While there is without a doubt a few online dating sites that are corrupt and do rip off their customers, this is few and far between.  Most of the dating sites out there are completely legitimate, especially the larger ones.  This means that if we are failing we must stop blaming outside sources and begin to look ourselves in the mirror in figuring out just what needs to be changed with our approaches to online dating.  The following tips are a checklist of things you should make sure you are doing when online dating:

Learn how to build attraction - Learning how to build attraction is a skill that should be studied and learned.  Men and women are very different and become attracted to each other for very different reasons.  We don’t have to be born good looking to achieve success with online dating.  However, we do have to understand how to use other methods to create the attraction we seek.

Create a well-designed profile – Always take the time and energy to make a well-designed profile.  Too many people rush through this process thinking that they can rely solely on messages to generate interest.  While this may be true for the best of the best looking, most of us cannot get by this way.  Profiles need to be perfectly designed as a personal sales pitch.  Show people who you are and why you are worth investing time in.

Keep self-confidence high - It is important to understand that Hall of Famers only bat .300 – What do I mean by this?  I mean that even the best online daters will only be successful with about three out of ten messages they send.  It is impossible no matter how flawless your game is to get every person you seek out to respond.  Why?  Because there are so many circumstances involved.  Responding to messages is time consuming and many people just don’t have a chance to get back to everyone they were like to.  On top of that many people you hit
