Created on: January 05, 2011   Last Updated: January 19, 2011

Sophos, after taking over Utimaco in 2008, has dominated the computer industry as a leading producer of business security software. Now operating under SophosLabs, the company's global network of threat analysis centers, their line of products include anti-virus, anti-spyware, data loss prevention, and encryption software.

The most recent Sophos encryption software is SafeGuard Enterprise 5.5, what they call "your central key for data protection." It's a series of software-based components for an entire modular suite holding up to 1000 seats. Targeted to small and large businesses, it received a perfect score in an

SC Magazine encryption group test (October 2010). Find out exactly what makes SafeGuard Enterprise the best and most efficient selection of computer encryption.

OVERVIEW

SafeGuard Enterprise is a multi-layered endpoint data security system combining encryption and data loss prevention and including five main components (known as modules): Partner Connect, Management Center, Device Encryption, Data Exchange and Configuration Protection. It is fully transparent to other-end users, enforces policy-based encryption across large environments, and is easily controlled from one central unit.

FEATURES

Policy enforcement and key management are just some of the key features SafeGuard Enterprise has to offer. Upon purchase, all seats/users must comply with the company-wide security policies created by the program or company administrator. Centralized key management is available to make storing, exchanging, and recovering data more secure and efficient. Data protection and encryption is possible on an endless array of devices, ranging from desktop computers to individual email accounts.

Many new features are included with the newest version of SafeGuard Enterprise. The software now fully supports the Windows 7 operating system; a 64-bit full disk encryption is available for Windows 7 and Vista. Detailed compliance logs and regular reports on encryption status and user activity can be conducted.

Administrators can deploy SafeGuard in nearly any environment, no matter how strange or remote. Using when on the road is also possible because of new administrator access options that offer easy user migration and flexibility. In the case of lost passwords (for Sophos or other Windows programs), the software can securely recover them with local self help.
