Poetry: Inside a snowglobe

by Samia Ali Arroyo

Created on: January 04, 2011   Last Updated: March 26, 2012

Every time my world shakes the snow begins to fall.

Like a full blown blizzard, not flurries or a squall.

Then within a short time, the snowfall slowly stops.

But I won't fall or move around, as long as I'm not dropped.

I live inside a snowglobe, where I am safe and warm.

Every time you shake my world there is another storm.

I know you like to watch me, I can see you when you smile.

And every time you shake me you stare at me a while.

You placed me on your mantle for all to clearly see.

Right beside your candles and your lovely Christmas tree.

You show me to your neighbors, you turn me upside down.

Then you turn the key around and listen for the sound.

I skate around and smile at you, I seem to bring you joy.

I know you love to listen to the tune about the boy.

Carefully, you put me back so that I do not fall.

Because my world is made of glass and I'm a porcelain doll.

I live inside a snowglobe where I am safe and warm.

Every time you shake my world there is another storm.
