Many different small and useful tools, free and paid, can be found in the App Store of your iPhone to accompany your movie watching experiences and make them better. The top iPhone applications for movie lovers include:

- IMDb Movies & TV (free)

IMDb, or Internet Movie Database, is said to be the world's largest collection of movie, TV and celebrity information. Although it is not used commonly by many people, it is known as one of the leading apps on the many different Apple products for movie showtimes, trailers, movie ratings, photo galleries and more.

Over one and a half million movie and television titles, as well as over three million celebrities, actors and directors are listed with suitable information for your convenience.

You can also create an IMDb account or sign in with your Facebook account, which allows you to rate movies for others to see. There is also link between IMDb and Amazon which allows DVDs and Blu-ray discs to be purchased.

- Movies by Flixster (free)

Movies with Flixster is yet another extremely helpful application which you should have by your side at all times. It not only finds show times for your favourite movies, but also allows you to purchase your tickets online, view maps of other theaters playing a movie of your choice, and rent or buy movies from iTunes straight from your device.

Another interesting feature of Movies with Flixster is its nifty catch which allows you to find restaurant near theatres. This is sure to help you if you need to grab a quick bite to eat before dashing off to your movie, or if you need to see to a midnight snack before the drive home. 

- OneTap Movies (free)

OneTap Movies automatically recognizes where you are so it can display the nearest movie theatres, along with the movies and showtimes, quickly for your convenience. Like many other different movie applications, it also shows critic ratings, trailers and user ratings.

However, on the other hand, one if its unique features allows you to find box office sales, which gives you extremely accurate statistics on which movies are more popular than others. It is extremely user friendly, with movie times showing up to 5 days ahead. Movie ratings, such as PG, M and R are also shown to help you decide which movies are suitable for your children and which are not.

There are many different movie applications on the iPhone, but only a few stand out and make a reputations. These are definitely the most user friendly, the most helpful and not always the most extravagant.
