Your eyes are the first thing people see when they look at you. Your eyes are also the first place that shows the signs of tiredness and aging. Combat the tired and sagging look with a routine that will give your eyes a boost of brightness and freshness.

By combining some simple healthcare, skincare, and makeup tips, you can begin to give your eyes a younger appearance. These simple tips will have you looking great and feeling good about yourself and you’ll notice a difference within only a couple of days of starting. All it takes is giving your eyes the love and care they need.

Look at the root of the problem first. Are you getting enough rest? A good night’s sleep will reduce dark circles under your eyes. Don’t drink caffeine or eat sugary foods in the evening. Is your head elevated? Sleep on at least two pillows to reduce puffiness around your eyes. Cut out greasy and fatty foods from your dinner to also help reduce swelling.

Develop a good skin care program. Every day you should use a cleanser to remove your makeup or dirt buildup. Follow with a product that exfoliates dead skin cells, such as St. Ives Gentle Apricot Scrub, which is great even for sensitive skin. Use a toner next that absorbs excess skin oil and always follow with a moisturizer for your eyes and face.

Now that you’re treating the main problems that cause eyes to lose their luster, begin wearing eye shadow in a way that brightens your eyes and gives them a fresh look. Before you apply your foundation, use a concealer under your eyes to help cover any dark circles. After applying your foundation, use an eye shadow base such as L’oreal’s De-Crease. This product makes your eye shadow last longer and without creasing.

Select shades of shadow that suits your skin, hair and eyes. If you’re fair with light hair and light eyes, choose green shadows. If you’re fair with dark hair and light or dark eyes, select purple or mauve shadows. If you have a medium skin tone with light or dark hair and eyes, use neutral shadows in the brown family. If you have olive skin and dark hair and eyes, use black and silvers. If you have dark skin, hair and eyes, use silvers or gold shadows.

You should choose four shades of shadow from your complimentary colors. One shade should be the lightest – almost white. The next shade should be a flat color. The third should be a frosty color and the last should be the darkest. All of these colors should coordinate with each
