The best drunk driving attorney may not be the cheapest. But the money you spend will be well worth the outcome. Those attorneys that offer dirt-cheap prices often work on volume, not for their clients’ best interests. They will be there to represent in a court of law, but will do a minimal amount on putting up a defense. They are looking at getting in and out as fast as possible so they can go make more money. Now, this doesn’t mean you will have to pay top dollar for an attorney. But, it does mean investing some money for a good defense.

You will need a drunk driving attorney that specializes in this area. Some attorneys defend clients for any number of criminal problems. However, they do not have the background and detailed knowledge of the DWI laws. This means your defense will not be as tough as it needs to be. That can lead to substantial penalties, large fines, and even jail time. You want an attorney that knows these laws and knows how to defend against them. You want an attorney that handles DWI accidents as well as multiple offense drivers. This will give you someone with experience and fight.

Most experienced attorneys will base their costs on the particular situation. If it is a first time offense with no accidents involved, most times the fees will be lower. If it is a multiple offense or something that involves bodily injury, you can expect the fees to go much higher. You may pay a bit more for an attorney with the right level of experience, but it will pay off when you get the best defense possible. A good drunk driving attorney will give you the best defense possible in any situation you face.

It is important to get a good drunk driving attorney as soon as possible after you receive a DWI citation. This will allow you to get sound legal advice through every step of the process. Making a wrong decision early in the process can have long-term results that can be catastrophic. In some states, it’s legal to ask for an attorney before you take a breathalyzer. That is when you need to start thinking about getting an attorney into place. That will protect you and your rights from the start. And that is the best possible scenario you face.
