Press on toward the Goal

I borrowed this title from the Bible - Philippians 3, NRSV. Verse 13 reads in part: "I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal..."  2010 might have been a challenging year for some of us, but today we have the opportunity to leave it all behind, if we so choose, take whatever lessons we need to, and "press on toward the goal". I choose to interpret "straining" as giving my best effort no matter what the appearance says.

When I was in high school (not so long ago!) a visitor to my school said this: "Yesterday is a cancelled check [cheque], tomorrow is a promissory note, today is cash on hand." I had no idea then who she was quoting nor do I remember why she said it, but as young as I was I had a sense of what it meant, and I've never forgotten it. So yesterday as I reflected on 2010 I realized it is now a "cancelled check". But here's the 'Catch-22': this may also mean putting behind me all the seeming successes and triumphs. You too! Are we grateful for them? Of course. Do we celebrate them? Absolutely! But we can't rest on our laurels. How long can we stare at the trophy? Or recount the stories? Sitting on those laurels means we can't "press forward". Recounting the old stories may mean we can't create new ones. Catch-22? I'd say!

Although I "press on toward the goal", I'm mindful that I don't know what the future holds - I can only follow the [Universal] Law and trust the process; the future is the "promissory note". What I do have, however, is now - my point of power; my "cash on hand". So I use it as wisely as I can and "press on" - to the next now. I invite you to do the same. My affirmation for you and me is that this new year is simply a beautiful prelude to the Prosperity - meaning total well-being  - that is ready and available for us to claim. Remember, the Universe - the perfectly orderly Universe is rigged in your favor; you can't lose. So "press on toward the goal"!
