The debate over creation and evolution is convoluted. The reason for this stems from very broad parameters a term like “evolution” includes. For example, “the theory of evolution,” is equivalent to “the theory that everything changes,” because that is what the term evolution means in this context. Under such broad parameters, it becomes easy to support the conditions outlined. Furthermore, the precepts of such parameters are entirely correct.
Unfortunately, science requires a theory to be able to make predictions and be supported through observation. In addition, a scientifically supported theory must also be falsifiable. The theory of evolution is not really a theory at all, as James Shapiro writes: “In fact, there are no detailed Darwinian accounts for the evolution of any fundamental biochemical or cellular system, only a variety of wishful speculations. It is remarkable that Darwinism is accepted as a satisfactory explanation for such a vast subject-evolution- with so little rigorous examination of how well its basic theses work in illuminating specific instances of biological adaptation or diversity,”(Shapiro 1996 “In the Details…what?” National Review, 16 September pp 62-65).
For creation, there really is nothing to debate. The Sumerian story of Genesis explains the human being is both a creature and a creation. The God Enki takes a primitive Earth species, mixes his genes to create the Adapa (Earthling) in the likeness of Enki himself. This is the precursor to the Biblical Genesis and states the human being is a creation. This does not eliminate components of evolution.
Since the creation myth incorporates evolution into its design, the real issue is the question of evolution. According to biologists Lynn Margulis and Dorion Sagan: “The biological transition between bacteria and nucleated cells…is so sudden it cannot be effectively explained by gradual changes over time,” (1986 pp. 115-116 “On the Terrestrial Atmosphere before the Apparition of Life”). Assertions by biologists begin to resemble the teleological argument philosopher’s make for intelligent design. “DNA and the cell-based life it codes for are an extremely sophisticated technology that far surpasses our present understanding and that was initially developed elsewhere than on Earth-which it radically transformed on its arrival some four billion years ago,” (1998 Jeremy Narby
