Color

Firstly, you want to make sure that your invitations match the rest of your wedding. You might want to display them in the front of your wedding album, and friends may want to create scrapbook pages using them, so they need to match your main wedding colors.

Many brides opt for white or cream card with the wedding color using as a highlight or accent color. However, if your color is suitable, you can use the wedding theme color for the main cardstock you use. If your color is pastel blue or lilac, for example, this would work well, whereas a navy or scarlet card may not be so attractive. If your wedding color is something very individual, such as sunshine yellow then this would make a very nice, unique invitation.

Style

If you are going to make the invitations yourself you need to design a card that will be personal to you, will be within your skill level, will fall within budget, and can be make in the numbers required in the time allowed.
