HOW TO THROW A SUPER SUPER BOWL PARTY
When friends gather round for an evening of card games, board games or a TV night of football it can be just an evening with friends or it can be a party…It’s a party when you bring out the chips and the dip…and you might want to add a few more goodies as well but the chips and the dip and a few cold drinks are a great starter.
It is almost Super Bowl Sunday. Super Bowl Sunday marks the end of the football season and it is party time, a time of celebrating our favorite team. It’s when family and friends gather together for good food, fun, a bit of joking and jostling and a lot of cheering for the team of your choice. Whether your team wins or loses you will be a winner when you serve the right foods.
Foods should be easy to eat, foods you can eat with your fingers while you’re glued to the TV screen; foods that are fun and quick and easy to serve. There should be plenty of it, both hot and cold. Chips and dip are a must along with little smokies in barbecue sauce, spicy meatballs, drummies (chicken wings) foods you can keep hot in your crock-pot or slow cooker and pizza. Pizza is always a big hit. Everyone loves pizza.
Have a raw vegetable and fruit platter or two as well. Popcorn and cheese trays also go well as well as a couple bowls of salted peanuts and candy sitting within easy reach. A few desserts that don’t have to be all that fancy will top off the party just fine, cookies, brownies, fruit squares and tarts and beverages, don’t forget the drinks. You can get really thirsty when you’re yelling at the TV set telling your team how to play the game and the referee how dumb his call was; include sodas, water, coffee, tea, both iced and hot, hot chocolate and if you choose to serve alcohol, don’t forget the beer or make it BYOB. Insist on designated drivers and hold the car keys. Make good and wise choices and especially where there are children included in the event.
Super Bowl Sunday can be an exciting day if you love football and even if you don’t and no one should be allowed to get out of hand or leave behind the wheel after drinking alcohol, even if it is just a couple of drinks.
Have a great party but keep it safe so you will have fun memories and not tragic ones. You are the host or hostess; therefore you are responsible for what goes on in your home. Have a fun and safe party and may the best team win.
