Although celebrities make large contributions to charities and help to support them, overall they have a negative effect on society. 

Almost all female celebrites are required to be stick thin.  Society encourages extreme thinness and these celebrites promote that in order to be beautiful you have to be very thin.  Many teenage girls look up to these celebrities and they believe that they are fat because these celebrities are so skinny.  As a result, many teenagers struggle with eating disorders and they harm their bodies in order to achieve the beautiful thin bodies that the celebrities promote.  They also resort to unhealthy habits such as smoking in order to suppress their appetite.

Many celebrities are also unfaithful in marriage.  It is such a daily occurence that many young adults are starting to think that it is okay to be unfaithful in their relationships.  They are not encouraged to treat the people they love with respect.

There are many celebrities who start out as excellent role models for children and young adults.  However, the pressures of Hollywood make them depressed and as a result they make poor decisions.  For example, Lindsay Lohan was a good role model for young kids.  After all of her success from fame, she starting doing drugs and she was caught several times drinking while driving.  Many kids looked up to her and she dissapointed many of them when she started making these decisions.  Children are starting to believe that this behavior is okay because that's what many people in Hollywood do.  How are they supposed to look up these people for guidance in life?

Various celebrites also act rudely to their peers. They encourage disrepectful behavior and they are never punished for their actions.  They reason they are famous is because of their numerous fans.  They act disrespectful towards their fans and they are unappreciative of their contributions to their success.  They also repeatedly get into fights with the paparazzi and other famous stars.  This dissapoints the fans greatly.

In addition, a wide variety of celebrities dress very provocatively.  Their fashion choices influence the fashion of the younger generation.  Many teenagers are starting to think that is normal to dress provocatively in public.

Should we continue to allow these celebrities to influence the lives of the future generation?
