The Washington Redskins' all-time passing yards leaders include three quarterbacks who threw for more than 20,000 yards with the franchise. They are headlined by former NFL MVP Joe Theismann and Hall of Famers Sonny Jurgensen and Sammy Baugh.

Joe Theismann: 25,206 yards

The Washington Redskins' all-time passing yards leader is 1983 NFL MVP Joe Theismann. Theismann spent his entire 12-year career in Washington from 1974 to 1985. He averaged more than 200 yards per game four times and posted career bests of 3,714 passing yards and 29 touchdowns in 1983. In the lockout-shortened 1982 season, Theismann led the Redskins to their first Super Bowl Championship with a pair of touchdown passes against the Dolphins.

Sonny Jurgensen: 22,585 yards

Hall of Fame QB Sonny Jurgensen sits second on the list of Washington Redskins' all-time passing yards leaders. After establishing himself as a top flight quarterback with the Eagles, Jurgensen joined the Redskins in 1964 and continued his brilliance. He led the NFL in passing yards three times in Washington and five times overall. He totaled 32,224 yards in the air, good for top 30 all-time. Jurgensen's 255 passing touchdowns ranks 11th in NFL history.

Sammy Baugh: 21,886 yards

Revolutionary Hall of Fame quarterback, defensive player, and punter Sammy Baugh ranks third among the Washington Redskins' all-time passing yards leaders. Baugh joined the Redskins in 1937, their first season after moving from Boston and he immediately carried them to their first NFL Championship. As one of the most versatile players in football history, he led the NFL in passing yards four times, touchdown throws twice, QB rating four times, defensive interceptions once, and yards per punt five times. Spending his entire 16-year career with the Redskins from 1937 to 1952, Baugh was the first player in franchise history to reach 20,000 passing yards and he added a still-standing Redskins' record 187 touchdowns.

Mark Rypien: 15,928 yards

Former Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien was the latest player to join the top five list of Washington Redskins' all-time passing yards leaders. From 1988 to 1993, Rypien averaged 206.9 yards per game with the Redskins with a passer rating of 80.2. He was named the MVP of Super Bowl XXVI as he led the Redskins to their most recent championship in 1991. Rypien posted three 3,000 yard seasons while throwing 101 touchdown passes in Washington.

Billy Kilmer: 12,352 yards

Washington's quarterback in the 1970s, Billy Kilmer ranks fifth among the Washington Redskins' all-time passing yards leaders. From 1971 to 1978, Kilmer averaged 150.6 passing yards per game with 103 touchdown throws for the Redskins. In 1972, he had his best season as he led the NFL with 19 touchdown passes and a QB rating of 84.8. Kilmer earned his only Pro Bowl selection and led the Redskins to their first appearance in a Super Bowl game in 1972. He tallied a total of 20,495 passing yards in his NFL career.
