Blogging has become extremely popular, some people blog for fun while others do it for business purposes. The reason you blog will help you determine how often you should post on your blog.
Affiliate Marketers - Most tutorials aimed at helping affiliates succeed suggest that you post to your blog on a regular basis. The most common reason for this, if you want to make sales from promoting affiliate products you need to increase the amount of traffic or visitors to your blog. While more traffic is important, the quality of visitors is far more important, so you want to target your audience. Visitors should have an interest in your niche.
Posting to your blog should always provide valuable information, visitors that find your blog who are interested in the topic should be able to get one of three things. Answers to questions they may have. Information about products that may interest them. The product or service you are promoting should offer value to the buyer.
So, affiliates should post when they have something to say that will benefit the reader. Yes, being consistent is important when maintaining a blog, but simply posting banners or text links everyday is a waste of your time and your visitors; not to mention it is one way to make sure your visitors don't re-visit your blog.
Personal Blogs - There is a lot more flexibility when you are blogging for fun, but if you want to keep readers interested and build a following then updating blog post regularly is important. Should you post once a week, everyday or five times a day? Well, it depends on your personal preference. If you have something you want to share then post it if you have the time.
When you are blogging for personal reasons, or to keep family and friends updated on what's going on in your life it's like keeping a journal. Blogging can be like writing in a diary everyday. The difference is, it's not private you have choosen to share it with others.
Blogging For Business - Most companies have a blog on its website to keep customers and prospects informed about the company. So, how often you should post to a blog is in a sense a business decision. If you are a small or new business, posting on a regular basis is probably a good idea. It will build confidence, trust and can be a great way to get your brand in front of the world.
How often should you post on a blog really depends on why you are blogging, what you expect to achieve and the substance of your next post. Consistency is key to blogging when doing it for income, but always focus on providing valuable post for visitors and building trust. Forget about making sales, focus on attracting targeted traffic that is interested in your niche and you will begin to convert visitors to buyers.
