Survivor is a clear-cut example of just how fake so-called "Reality TV" shows rally are. I despise this show, but my wife loves it, so every week I am subjected to the same inane drivel. "Outwit, Outplay, Outlast", my @$$. This is a season-long game-show based on what amounts to a popularity contest straight out of Junior High. Come on, folks, anything based on a vote isn't about survival, it's about who likes who the best. I mean, really, the men all have stubble and beards from three days into the competition on, but none of the women have hairy underarms or legs? How realistic is that? None of them are supposed to be allowed to bring anything resembling a razor with them, are they?
For this series to be done right, it should become like a nature documentary- you drop off twenty people on an Island that's been wired with hidden cameras and microphones, with no food, water or tools. That's it. No silly games, no condescending host, no dimwitted tribal councils. Maybe James Earl Jones narrating. Instead of watching these stupid poularity contests every week, we would instead see what real survival is all about- who's smart enough to build shelter, find food and fresh water, fend off predators, etc... I often tell my friends and family taht if I were to ever be on the show, I'd be the first person ever to just take the easy way to the million dollars by murdering all the other contestants the first night in their sleep. (I don't know why this didn't happen on the first season, it sure as hell would've made an addict out of me after that.) There it is, no contest, no "quest for fire", no puzzles, just me, feasting on the still-beating hearts of my rivals, the last Survivor. Ever.
