Easy ways to assist your toddler’s intellectual development.
Teaching a toddler, of course, must involve fun, and intellectual development starts with good habits.
The basics must never be dull for a toddler as they have short attention spans. By assisting their daily repetitive chores, they will form good habits, and this is the fore runner to their intellectual advancement.
Toddlers need a starting point to learn all aspects of self respect, and this starts in the home. Building a structural foundation for the basics is very important. Early development skills can be a good start to developing the intellectual learning process, simply by learning good habits.
Understanding the need for manners, self grooming techniques and the importance of social graces in the world today, is vital.
A parents' own eating and grooming habits will give the child potential for developing their own habits.
Meal preparation and a variety of healthy food selection will help a child not become a fussy eater.
Always include your toddler in some small way in your food preparation, even if it is a simple as adding food you have prepared or chopped, into a dish, allow them to feel they are helping, and I guarantee they will enjoy their meal.
Just the act of stirring something in a bowl before you are preparing to place it on the stove creates an enjoyable accomplishment for them. Of course when toddlers see you eating, they generally follow suit.
Not making a fuss, and just serving a small potion to a toddler and allowing them to learn from your own manners is generally enough to set them on the path of good habits.
Teach them to enjoy having a bath, by making at least part of the bathroom a fun place, perhaps adding a special basket with their water toys, even with their name on it, and encouraging that bath toys need to be put back in the basket after the bath has finished.
Don’t be afraid to tell your toddler how important it is to brush their teeth and wash their hands.
Make sure they see you brush your teeth. In this way, they know that it must have significance, and you are helping your child to set good personal habits early in life.
Teaching the importance of books, by reading to them, not only helps them to develop a healthy respect for learning, but gives them a head start to how exciting it will be when they go to school.
Joining a library and allowing them to have a card with their own name on it, can be the start to a rewarding step in intellectual
