Poetry: Final parting

by Aurora Russe

Created on: December 29, 2010

I guess this must be the end;

Oh yes, I saw the clues!

Your broken promises,

And vast, unconquered roads

Reflected in your blues.

You’ve made your bet,

I fold with best regards;

The hand that I’ve been dealt

Brings nothing to your house of cards.

And thus we part,

Tearing pages from our books of life

Forgetting reasons for

And length of our common plight.

I’ll leave you to your plans,

But don’t forget to note,

You never were

A lucky gambler, silly boy.
