Poetry: Soul-searching

by Ashley Newton

Created on: December 28, 2010

I am at a loss of words,

I have nothing to say.

I am at a loss of thoughts,

I am in my own way.

I know what to do

But it remains undone.

I carry on with life

As if my battle is already won.

I continue to fool myself,

And let others do the same.

If I am persistent at this,

Soon I will not be sane.

I focus on others,

When it is convenient for me.

'Cuz when I look in the mirror,

I don't like who I see.

I almost hate myself

But I know that's wrong.

I question the mirror often,

"To whom does this face belong?"

I can't take it anymore.

I am at my fork in the road.

But which way do I go

To release this heavy load?

Whichever choice I make,

I must make it in haste.

Life is but a vapor.

There is no time to waste.
