Dating from the teen perspective

What is the drive of teenagers today to act in the inappropriate and completly immoral way that they do these days? It seems like you can not walk through the halls of 90% of High Schools in the country without spotting at least four pregnant girls, most of them underclassmen. What drives our teenagers to make the choices that they do.

There are a variety of opinions as to when a couple should become sexually active.

The first is the old time bible method:

TRUE LOVE WAITS
The Christian faith believes that all sexual acts should be reserved for marriage, and that anything that violates that is a sin. These include things other than just sexual intercourse.

The second is the mature adult:

LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS
When two adults, say, thirty-five or older get into an indepth relationship, they are not so much concerned with the sex as the companionship. They are more into the kinds of books that they both like to read, the different dances that they like, and the simpler times that they can share together. When sex does come into play, they enjoy it sometimes, but not all of the time. While they hold some reserve that sex should be somewhat sacred and only shared with that special person, they do not quite have the patience for the bible way of thinking.

Finally, the method that many teenagers seem to be going with today:

HAVE YOU HAD SEX YET?!
Sometimes it seems that hanging out with your friends no longer means watching a movie and going home. There is so much more gossip then there was back in the day, and many teenagers judge themselves soley on the fact of whether they have had sex yet or not. A common conversation between friends can consist of whether you have had sex, how often, and with whom. Was it good? Whose business is it anyway? It often seems that a teenager would jump into bed with the closest person within five feet of them if they had the opportunity. No regard for what is right or holy in the world, just how can I serve MYSELF right NOW.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Being a teenager myself, I can understand the constant pressure that we undergo every single day in our high schools about "how far" we have gone and what is the next step. I can understand that people have problems fending off that pressure, and a lot of teen pregnancies result from that kind of stuff. It is also not all peer pressure. We want to feel loved, we want someone to hold our hand. Some of us just want someone that we can walk on the beach with, share sweet innocent kisses, with, while still having the option of heating things up a little bit if we so choose. What goes on in our minds is not only hard for you to understand, but for us to understand too! As much as we may think, most of us do not know what love is, only what lust is. Its a problem that needs to be confronted, and teens need to learn that there are other ways of intmacy than sex before you are ready.
