Too many commercials: Are they strangling TV?

by Charles Johnson

Created on: December 27, 2010

In today's world of television people are watching what they think is real television. Good television is becoming a thing of the past for most shows. The reality shows are really getting stupid and the producers of the shows know what they are doing. Due to the time it takes to do the shows they have to fast forward in order to get all the commercials for that certain show. Some of the shows are so short they have to show the same thing over and over just to fill the time slot between them. A lot of the television news networks will talk about their news stories in order to get people to wait until they have seen a certain amount of commercials.

Since television stations make their money from people running ads and not from the show, there is only one thing on their mind, making money. When television had a lot of family shows on their program there was plenty of time to do the whole show without having ten minutes of commercials in a thirty minute show. If you take a closer look at talk shows you will notice their guest has just made a new movie and the show is doing a ad for the movie. If you are not really thinking about your time involved watching television it will not make any difference to you.

All the news networks are getting into selling books and they don't want you to think it is a commercial. I am sure you have noticed the author of of the book is also there to tell us their idea of the news. The whole idea of television is see how many commercials can be shown without cutting the idea of the show short. If you keep tract of the time the show is on you will notice the ads and the show take about the same amount of time.

If you keep the remote in your hand and change the channel every time the show stops, you may not see a real show in fifteen channels. Most television stations try to show some type of ads when other stations are doing their ads.  The ads are even popping up while the main shows are on just to make more money.  The only way we can stop the ads is write to the networks and complain. Tell them them you will stop watching some of the shows.
