Many of us will ask the question whether new year resolutions are worth making and many will think that they are not but below are a few reasons to explain why they are indeed worth making.
1. Life is difficult for most people, and some more than others and during this economic world crisis it is probably hard for nearly every single person except the lucky millionaires out there! So if one could make a new year resolution to promise that you were going to spend less, to find ways of economizing and become more self sufficient well then this could only be good and ensure that the following year would be a little easier to bear. Once you get caught up in the 'saving' bug it can be quite contagious and it is amazing how much one can save just by cutting out unnecessary expenditure and saving what little money you have for the more important and unexpected events of life.
2. Sometimes one gets to a point in life when it seems as if there are just too many regrets that have been left along the path and you don't feel very proud of yourself in fact ashamed is probably the better description. Things could have been done another way, one could have been more patient, more tolerant and more humane with other people but the wonderful thing is that it is never too late to change the final outcome of your life. Make a new year resolution and say to yourself that you are going to become a better person and try to change for the better all the aspects of your character that you were not happy with before.
3. Do you ever wonder why you were put down on this earth and do you ever say to yourself that you will never be able to leave any particular mark behind you once you are gone? You feel that you are no Einstein. You feel that you haven't invented anything special. You haven't contributed anything valuable to your country and so after having all these thoughts you feel that you are really no-one.
This is not the case. Everyone, but everyone can contribute something to this earth and make themselves feel as if their life has been worthwhile. If you help just but one person well that is something very special and very positive. Imagine that if every single person on this earth just helped one other person well that would be a great chain reaction of goodness and kindness being spread from one to the other.
So this year make it your special new year resolution to try and help someone. It could be a neighbour, it could be a member of your family or it could be dedicating some of your life/time to an old people's home or a home for abandoned children. What ever you do that is good for another living being, and this could also include animals, is something that will make you feel as if you have done something worthwhile.
Remember that if you give of yourself you will gain as your reward a whole load of satisfaction from being and acting as a better person.
