How to tell if you are gay

I can never decide which is more ignorant. People who use "measuring sticks" to determine their own definition of what is "gay" and what isn't, or people who threaten and/or resort to violence against gays or someone they perceive as gay.
And it is exactly this sort of behavior that solidifies the need for hate crime legislation to protect not only gay and lesbian people, but those that are perceived to be gay and assaulted based on that perception.
Children in school get bullied because they are either perceived as gay, or are labeled as gay by some cruel bully, or because they are gay. If Columbine hasn't taught us something about protecting bullied kids, then we have no real future to look forward to except for violence in our schools, violence in our streets, and violence in our own homes.
Hate crimes laws are important. We need to support them.
