First time dog owners often want to find some good dog training methods so that they can teach their dog a few commands. Teaching your dog some basic commands is a great way to get to know your new dog and interact with him. Most breeds of dogs love to learn and are easily trainable if you know what to do. If you are serious about teaching your dog some tricks, here are a few easy tips to get you started.

Find a treat that your dog loves.Treat training, or positive reinforcement, is one of the best dog training methods to use because it is so easy. Once you find a treat that your dog likes to eat, you can use it as a reinforcement method of training. This is usually the quickest method to get your dog trained.

Dog clicker training is another popular dog training method. You will need a simple clicker device that can be found at any pet store or online. With this method, the dog learns to act on simple commands when he hears you use the clicker. For instance, if you click once, the dog will sit. If you click twice, the dog will perform another command. This method is a little more advanced, but can be done by just about anyone wit the right training.

Another popular method for training your dog is dog kennel training. This method is typically used as a way to potty train your dog. It's also a great method to use if you don't want your dog to have free reign of the home while you are away. Your dog will learn to go into his kennel on command and stay there without soiling it. With the correct training, a dog can be quite happy in his kennel.

No matter which of these dog training methods you choose, you should remember that consistency is the key. If you are not consistent, then your dog will only become confused when you give him commands. You should use the same command words over and over again so that your dog will begin to understand what you want him to do.

Remember, training your dog takes time and patience. Every pet owner should take the time to properly train their animal. Both you and your pet will be much happier if you do. Take your time and enjoy spending it with your dog. He will soon become your best friend.
