Amid bad news that Tony Romo, NFL quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, will be out the rest of the 2010 season due to injury, there is some good news: he is now engaged to Candice Crawford. To add to the excitement for Candice, Tony proposed on her 24th birthday. And he gave her an amazing present with a four-carat diamond ring that according to US Magazine is estimated to be worth $80,000. This is the stuff that dreams are made of, for Candice at least.

Tony and Candice have dated for a little over a year and seem well suited for one another. Tony, who grew up in Wisconsin, played college football in Illinois before becoming a stand-out professional player in Dallas, first starting as quarterback in 2006. He is an outstanding multi-sports athlete, who often joins sports programs as a guest. Candice grew up in Dallas and currently is employed as a sports reporter. Her brother Chase is a television actor on the show Gossip Girls. Prior to her current job, Candice served as Miss Missouri in the Miss USA franchise. Both she and Tony are tall.

Prior to dating Candice, Tony has had high profile romances with some very famous and talented women, including Carrie Underwood and Jessica Simpson. Carrie Underwood is now married to professional hockey player Mike Fisher. Just recently, Jessica Simpson got engaged to Eric Johnson, a former NFL player. During the two years that Jessica dated Tony, she was at times considered a bad luck charm and major distraction to Tony.

While the Cowboys have faced some challenges in 2010, Tony managed to throw his career high game of 406 yards when facing the Tennessee Titans. While a broken clavicle suffered in October has taken him out for the rest of the year, Tony does have something to look forward to with the announcement of his engagement.

Tony and Candice will join the ranks of other NFL power couples, such as Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen. Clearly, many girls out there would love to marry their favorite football hero, and for Candice, that will soon become a reality. Who knows what else the future holds for Tony in terms of his football career and legacy. But one thing is certain: he will be making some changes in his life outside of the arena. For many a girl who has a crush on Tony Romo, they can just sigh as another eligible bachelor plans to tie the knot.
