Once again, it is that special time of the year. A time of goodwill, celebrations, exchanging of gifts and gathering with loved ones. Christmas seems to arrive earlier and earlier over the last few years; and before you know it, it will be a new year. Although this is the age of the Internet, when it comes to the yuletide season, many of us seem to become nostalgic and seek out the traditional practices of the season.
Yes, it is wonderful to receive an e-card; however, to retrieve a Christmas card in the mail will place a warm and big smile on your face.It means that you are special and remembered by the sender. Moreover, if the giver took the time to pen those special words, it will give extra meaning. Receiving the right words at a particular time is a godsend. Words are powerful and to obtain a card with thought-provoking words will certainly warm one's heart.
Parents are typical on the list for Christmas cards. You could make this very special by saying that you often take their love and deeds for granted. This is the time to write that you are thankful for all that they have done for you throughout the year. Don't be afraid to mention one of the great acts of kindness either parent has done. Remind them that they mean the world to you especially this time of the year. If they live in another state or country and you won't be meeting them throughout the season, do let them know that you'll be thinking about them; and they will be missed.
During this time of the year, some of us tend to give a cash token to those who serve us throughout the the year. But, it would be very thoughtful surprise to these hardworking folks like the mailman, the girl by the coffee shop who makes your coffee just right throughout the year, or your nanny who takes great care of your kids by giving a Christmas card that expresses your gratitude. A card to each of these special individuals would be ideal expressing your appreciation for the work they do on a daily basis. For instance, you could write to your children's nanny that he or she makes your day a little easier knowing that your children are in good hands.
Do remember the shut-in friend and neighbor across the hall. Perhaps, he or she was an active individual in the community who did a lot for others. This is the opportune time to let him or her know that they will be greatly missed during this festive time of the year. Express that there is always a space around the table for him or her.
Christmas will make you feel emotional. Moreover, it brings out the best in us. It is a special time of the year for remembering those who are special in your lives. And, what better way to let them know that you care and appreciate them by writing each of them a Christmas card. They will no doubt cherish the words for a long time. Merry Christmas!
