How to generate page views on online writing sites

Every freelance writer counts on getting page views in order for them to make money. Trends in what people are searching for changes quite frequently but the same applies to every article that is written. Here we will cover some of the best ways to generate views to articles written for online freelancing websites.

♦ Resources

By using some great resources freely available to you, you can check up to see what people are searching for that day. Some great places to start are Google Trends, Google AdWords, Yahoo! Buzz Index and AOL Hot Searches.

You don't need to use all these resources, just pick which one you prefer. The things that you need to be looking for are the keywords that are getting a lot of traffic. Try to focus on no more than 4 keywords per article you want to write.

♦ Title and First Paragraph

The title of the article plays a big part on whether the article itself will get much traffic or not. One or two of the keywords can be placed in the title, preferably the keywords that get the most traffic.

During the first paragraph you need to make sure that the chosen keywords work well together within the first 100 words. Again the closer to the beginning of the article that the keywords appear, the better it is for getting traffic.

♦ Optimize

The rest of the article can now be written with the keywords added throughout. It is very important that you do not use the keywords too much during your article but instead just place them wherever they feel the most natural. If your article has sub-headers then it is very important that you make these bold if they are including keywords.

♦ Density

Once the article has been completed, the next step would be to check the keyword density. Again there are some great online tools to help make the job a little easier. One of the best free online tools would be Textalyser which has some great benefits but for this purpose, it is good for checking the keyword density of an article. With the right density, your articles will rank much higher in search engines which in return will mean more page views.

♦ Links

Linking to one article from another is a good way of building exposure to your other articles. If you have written an article on dog grooming and have other articles in the same field then add a link to the others within the new article.

♦ Blogs

By creating blogs with teasers and links to the full articles are one of the best ways of generating page views for your articles. Places like Wordpress and Blogger are great places to start and best of all it is free. It may be a good idea for the teaser to either be a written summary of the article or simply the first few sentences of the first paragraph.
