Omega 3 may be the new craze today but research has indicated that this nutrient has genuine benefits, especially for women.
Breast cancer is on the rise today, and although fatalities are falling, females can cut the risk of getting this type of cancer if they up their intake of fish such as mackeral and salmon, which contain high amounts of Omega 3. Research has shown that females can cut the risk of getting breast cancer by 50% by consuming Omega 3.
Since Omega 3 has shown to increase intelligence, considering that our brains are made up of 70% fats, it is common sense that we should consume Omega 3. Pregnant females should eat as much Omega 3 as possible for their newborn to develop healthy and intelligent brains.
Heart disease is still one of the most common killers of women but Omega 3 lowers cholesterol levels and blood pressure, effectively lowering the risk of getting heart disease.
Onsteoporosis affects the bones and weakens them, making the risk of fracture much higher. Omega 3 can lower the risk of getting this disease.
Because the brain is made up of fats, it requires fats. Studies have shown that consuming Omega 3 lowers post partum depression in women, which is only logical if the brain is being fed what it requires.
Women who wish to get pregnant should high doses of Omega 3 as it improves their fertility by increasing the flow of blood to their uteruses, improves and balances hormones.
Pre Menstrual Tension in women are most offen caused by fatty acid imbalances. Omega 3 improves pain relief due to menstrual cramps.
Omega 3 cuts the chances of premature birth in babies by half.
Research has hinted that pregnant females who consume Omega 3 are less likely to have children who suffer from developmental problems in the future.
It is also common for pregnant females to suffer from 'Preeclampsia', which are situations that cause hypertension and high blood pressure that can potentially be dangerous to the mother and her unborn child. Omega 3 reduces the risk of this and any other problems that may arise during pregnancy.
Women suffer from more heart attacks than getting breast cancer but Omega 3 cuts the risk of getting 'Cardiovascular disease' and Omega 3 supports healthy hearts.
DHA in Omega 3 supports growth in babies, therefore reducing the risk of premature birth.
The menopause is one of the unwanted things that women go through but Omega 3 supports good hormone balance resulting in reduced hot flushes and mood swings.
And, finally, although not really as important as all the above, EPA in Omega 3 supports the healthy growth of finger nails, hair and supple skin due to Omega 3 being used by the cells in the body.
