While some people may complain about frizzy curls, others might complain if their hair is fine. Although lack of volume may be the biggest problem for those with fine hair, equally problematic might be the difficulty in finding hair care products that do not weigh down fine hair. The following article may be helpful for those looking for easy ways to care for fine hair.
Those with fine hair may not necessarily have less hair. Fine hair refers to the thickness of each hair shaft. That thickness may depend on a variety of factors, foremost among them is genetics. However, this does not mean that fine-haired people have to deal with what genetics has given them. One of the best and least expensive ways to care for fine hair is to use homemade shampoos that do not further weigh down the hair. Some examples include a simple hair wash made with lavender and rosemary, or a baking soda wash that is simply made with baking soda and water.
Another tip to remember is to try to avoid using heavy conditioners. Fine hair can generally be left without using conditioner. For those who want soft fine hair, using coconut oil might be a good option. Coconut oil is easy to use, especially since it only needs to be massaged onto the scalp and left on the head for a few hours. Then, a good wash involving baking soda or a store-bought shampoo (preferably without sulfates) is a necessary follow-up.
For those planning on using hair products such as hairspray or gel, they should choose products that offer lightweight application. Hairspray is best for those with fine hair, but hair gel can be just as useful if the correct type is used. Some hair gel can add extra weight to hair, making it appear greasy. Fine-haired people should avoid the greasy-haired look, since it can make the hair appear less voluminous.
Fine hair may also benefit from a short haircut. A short haircut will appear to give fine hair more volume. Since volume is much-needed for those who have fine hair, longer haircuts should be avoided. At the same time, fine-haired people should try not to put their hair up, especially since hair ties and other hair accessories may pull on the hair and scalp.
While fine hair can present some problems to those that have it, there are various ways to deal with this kind of hair without having to spend lots of money or going to the hair care professionals.
