Everything I’d like to be considered
Will forever grasp my attention.
Many times I have wondered,
“Who am I? How did I become me?”
Surely I’m kind, caring, loving?
Possibly funny, amusing? Or
Outgoing, personable? Maybe
I’m attractive? Wanted?
What about talented, giving,
Understanding, patient? Am I
Aggravating, stupid, selfish?
Will I ever know what I am?
Weirdly, I may never understand
Who I am exactly; but I know I
Am who I want to be. It’s my
decision—who I am.
And I know I sometimes
Stray away from these
Gentle thoughts we’d all
Like to be.
I get upset, angry, depressed.
I can bite your head off for
No reason; yet I apologize,
Or I try to.
I’m not perfect—no one is!
But I know one thing is true—
When I leave this world,
People will remember
Me as more than just “that girl.”
I’m a Christian, and I don’t hide it.
I show the world who I am
Knowing it could turn people away.
I adore people, but my maker
Is who I stride to be.
I give Him glory for the
Wonderful person I am.
And I pray that others
Can see His grace inside
Of me. I pray I am remembered
As a loving, non-hypocrite Christian.

I then close my eyes and look with

Whose soul is in the trees
Who walks the gypsy road so long
With bended, weary knees

It is not just a syllable,
Nor yet a verb.

more than a girl.
