I am often asked how I lost almost 100 pounds and keep it off with out being a runner, swimmer, weight trainer, or even ever owning a gym membership. My answer is simple, change your life style. In stead of using only your arms to vacuum the floor try stiffening them and using your body and legs, be creative and you have useful aerobics.
Do not just stand at the sink leaning into the counter to wash dishes, walk or dance in place. A broom makes a great dance partner and through your daily chores you will discover no need for an aerobics instructor.
Have errands to do? Stop parking in the front. Walking across a parking lot and pushing a shopping cart with proper body mechanics can do wonders for your thighs and back side. Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator. You may find this alternate rout, no one takes, is actually faster than racing across a crowded hall yelling hold that door and still having to wait for the next car.
Desk job or internet social, easy…that chair is on wheels usually…so use them! Twist with your hips, move the chair with your legs, you do not need to go far you just need to keep repeating the motions that work for you best in the area you have to work with.
Exercise does not take a formal trainer, special clothes or even a knowledge base. You do not have to run, and work at the pace most think, you need to be consistent. It never hurts to boost the heart rate a little with a brisk walk, but more importantly to good health and weight maintenance is consistency. Consistency with movement as movement is required for the intestines to do their job. These “guts” are lined with many muscles and our movement and food intake is what makes those muscles perk up and do their job.
Now with that change and the use of muscles that are not used to being used in most of our daily lives, other issues still need to be addressed, food intake.
Modification is a must, you do not need to quit eating anything you need to modify it and watch what you drink (most coffee drinks have more calories than a cheese burger).
Shop for your food and eat out as a treat for good behavior the reward here is suppose to be NO DISHES not the food. Food in itself should NEVER be used as a reward for humans…remember we have ‘evolved’ above animal behavior. Cooking your own meals provides you not only
