No one can hurt you anymore

nor can you love as you did before

when all it took was one you now abhor

to make you dead inside

The words he used were hatefully strong

and like a whipped pup, you tagged along

so, come on, now, you know he was wrong

but, it won't matter, it's the same old song

'cause you're already dead inside.....

Would it be worth the effort to at least try again

would the feelings come back if you sought a new friend

How would you do that and give it your all

if you cared with a heart on a downward fall

One thing's for certain; you won't be hurting

should things not work out, you won't care at all

'cause you're already dead inside...
