When congratulating a couple who just moved to a new home who have children, it is a good idea to think about the children when picking out that perfect housewarming gift. This could be gifts to help the couple as parents, keeping the children safe, or even something fun for the whole family to enjoy.

Child Proofing Basket

If the couple has an infant or a toddler, putting together a basket filled with items to child proof the house is sure to be appreciated. Simply pick out what size and type of basket you prefer or think they will enjoy. Next add items such as outlet plugs, toilet locks, handle locks, door locks, locks and latches for cabinet doors, night lights, and anything else that will help keep the children safe in their new home. This will be a big help to the couple during this stressful yet wonderful time.

Audio Visual Monitor

All couples wish to keep their eye on their children at all times. Most parents tend to have the natural instinct to hover a bit. Allow the couple to not worry so much about their young child playing in their room by giving them an audio visual monitor. MobiCam has a set for around $130.00. You or the couple can add on to this gift by buying extra cameras and an internet kit that will allow you to watch what is going on at your house any time of the day.

Baby Gates

Baby gates are always useful. Parents can never have enough baby gates. If the couple needs to get some work done around their new home yet want to keep the children out of things, baby gates are a great way to do this. They are also useful if the new home has stairs. Many times a gate can be placed at the bottom or top to prevent young children from playing on the stairs or falling down them. Baby gates also come in a variety of styles and colors.

First Aid Kits

Boo-boos are bound to happen with young children as they explore their world. Putting together a basic first aid kit as a housewarming gift will surely be appreciated. Start with a plastic bin or an empty tackle box. Add items like band-aids of different sizes in fun designs, triple antibiotic ointment, gauze, bandage tape, children’s Tylenol, and even a boo-boo buddy cold pack in a fun character such as Cookie Monster or Buzz Lightyear. Also, don’t forget to add the “trooper” stickers and suckers. Most children love stickers and candy. Another idea is add a walkman with a CD or cassette filled with fun children songs. This way the parent can let the child listen to the music while
