You stand in line
waiting your turn
watching as the roller coaster train goes by
people screaming with joy or fear
you cannot really tell.
The longer you wait
the more your heart pounds
are you scared or excited
your not really sure.
You reach the front of the Que
there's no turning back
you get into the car
sit in the seat
pull down the restraint and wait
your heart continues to pound
a young lad comes along
checking your fastend in right
then the train starts moving off.
Up the ramp you go
Clank, Clanck, Clank
'You try to stay calm
but thoughts of what could go wrong
come into your head
making you panic
top of the hill
take a deep breath in
but dare you put your hands in the air?
on the way down
you need to breath out again
that wasn't to bad you think to yourself as you go up and then down again
by the end of the ride
you are high
your adrenalin is pumping through you
you get out of the car
but don't get very far
as you find yourself queing again.

Poetry: Roller coasters
by Jacinth Klee
Don't ever tell me it's fun again
I almost lost my heart out there
Close your eyes, scream out loud
Have fun, that's all they
Chain clicking, yanking, tugging.
Train up hill, the view viewed like a dream.
Going down the hill, wind accelerating.
