There are millions of different types of software available to help students with their studies and the sheer choice can sometimes make choosing the right one for you a difficult task. In this article I will look at some of my favourite pieces of software, and also take a look at some of the software which is available to you for free.
* Microsoft Office – One of my most used pieces of software is probably Microsoft Office because of the word processing program which is included, Microsoft Word. This is probably one of the most widely used commercial word processing programs for a computer using a Windows Operating System. This software isn’t free but includes Microsoft Publisher, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Access and Excel, so you will have a program for most of your law school needs. To purchase Microsoft Office please follow this

* OpenOffice – This is a great piece of software and if my laptop didn’t come preinstalled with Microsoft Office then I would have definitely downloaded this. OpenOffice is a free piece of software which replicates Microsoft Office. For more information please follow this link.
* Evernote – Evernote is another free program which allows you take written notes, keep track of photographs, as well as record voice and videos. This software basically allows you to take and organise notes with ease on multiple devices, such as laptops, computers, phones, and even your iPod Touch! To find out more and download Evernote please follow this link.
* AbiWord – This free program acts as a word processor, but also has a cool feature as it lets users collaborate on a document at the same time. It also lets you store documents online to share with your friends and can perform format conversions very quickly and is simple to use. It is definitely worth considering if you or your friends don’t want to fork out money for Microsoft Office. For more information please visit the following link.
* Vocaboly – Again, another free program which helps you build up your vocabulary. This is especially useful for non-native English speakers; however it works exceptionally well for native speakers who wish to extend their vocab range. There are memory games, recall games, listening and spelling tests and much more. To find out more about Vocaboly please follow this link.
With so many different word processors and study software available you are bound to find one which matches your individual needs and allows you to work efficiently. Remember to try out a few different programs before you choose one to stick with, because there are some really great free programs available which offer all (if not more) of the features of Microsoft Office.
