The kits usually include some additional rollers, a frame and a tool for squeezing waste water before rolling the screen. These window cleaning tools have special micro-dart fibres which push the dirty dust out of the screen. Learning how to use the window screen cleaner is easy. Simply fit a fresh roller cover over the roller each time, and roll the cover over your dirty screen. If you have many window screens to clean, the kits usually contain one or more replacement covers.
If you are a traditionalist when it comes to cleaning and feel more comfortable with a project that involves a bit more elbow grease, then the tried and tested garden hose method is for you. Learning how to clean window screens with the wash down method is easy too. Just remove the window screens one at a time (to avoid time-wasting confusion upon replacing variously sized screens) and brush down gently with a soft bristle brush. To handle window screens safely, lay them down on a solid smooth surface, perhaps one which has been covered with a spare piece of old carpet or soft fabric.
Both ammonia and ordinary detergent can be used for cleaning your window screens. Just use a soft scrubbing brush, making sure the surface is evenly covered with the liquid. It is wise to choose a nice warm day with some sunshine, as rinsing the window screens usually involves hosing them down with plenty of fresh water. The screens can be gently tapped on the ground or shaken a little to drain off the excess water. To finish off, simply leave to dry in the sun, and then fit to your shiny, freshly-cleaned windows!
