There are millions of blogs on the Internet today. To get more traffic for your blog there are a few things you can do. The most important thing you can do to get traffic is to write useful posts. Unless you are famous, nobody really wants to read about your life. If you write a useful post about how to change a bathroom faucet, people searching for instructions on how to change a bathroom faucet may find your post and read it. If your post helps your reader to solve some problem in their life, they may pass along a link to your article to a friend.

If you want to get some organic traffic to your blog, consider writing about popular subjects. One way to do this is to see what people are searching for on the search engines. Google has a service called Google Trends that lists the most popular searches every day. Check the top ten on this site and see if anything interests you. Open up a tab on your browser to do this and you can have your blog in another tab to write your post. Now, click on the link in Trends and you will get a search results page. Use this page to research the subject. When you find something interesting, put it in your own words and blog about it. Now, you will have a post about something that people are searching for. It's a cheap trick, and you don't want to just write spam articles. An original take on some popular subject can get you the attention of the search engines and some organic traffic for your blog.

There are some things you can do to make sure people can find your blog. One of these is to be sure you set your blog to be visible to the public. This is an option on most free services like Blogger and WordPress. Also, these services will ping the blog search engines like Technorati whenever you write a post. Be sure not to turn this feature off if you want people to find your blog. When you set up your blog you will want to be sure the search engines know about it. You can submit your URL to Google and Yahoo and any other search engines you care. Most of the free blog services will do this for you. It never hurts to do this yourself if you can not find your blog through these search engines.

Websites are ranked by how many links there are leading to them. One way to get some links is to submit your blog to the various blog directories. There are two basic types of blog directories, free and paid. You will probably want to stay away from paying for a link on a directory. A link on a directory can lead a few visitors to your site,
