How to be emo? If you do not want to be considered nothing but a poser, you surely need to consider getting in touch with everything emo before embracing this fashionable trend. For instance, keep in mind that emo fashion cannot be set apart from emo music, and you will have to at least like a few bands that sing this type of music, in order to become emo.
Be creative
Being emo is also strongly related to being in touch with your creative self. Many emo boys and girls love playing musical instruments, or writing poetry. While it may be debatable that emo music and emo poetry tend to be grim, this is all about creativity, so find a source of inspiration and get creative. This is also the easier way of being considered emo by others, since posers are not particularly popular with the rest of the emo crowd.
Get a fancy haircut
While you may be as emo as possible on the inside, you cannot learn how to be emo without considering getting a new and interesting haircut. Emo hairstyles involve dying your hair black and wearing bangs that partially cover your face. Google emo haircuts and you will be able to get plenty of pictures to inspire you about your new hairstyle.
Dress like emo kids
Emo clothes usually include Converse shoes, skinny jeans, black t-shirts and very interesting accessories. Dressing emo means that you need to update your wardrobe accordingly. While there are certain brands that make emo style clothing, you can simple go for a pair of skinny jeans, a pair of flats, a black t-shirt and a black hoodie. Never forget to accessorize: wear a belt with studs, buy some fancy face jewelry, and you can even add a pair of glasses with black rims that usually make an emo kid look even more interesting. Neon laces, band logos and other accessories are also welcome.
How to become emo
There is no exact recipe to become emo, but you should know what exactly how the emo definition sounds like. Many outsiders think that being emo means to have suicidal tendencies, but this is not how things really are. Being emo has more to do about being a sensitive person that does not endorse fighting over trivial things. Creativity is also part of emo personality, so it is best to ask yourself whether being emo is the right thing for you, before asking how to be emo.
