Tear down the curtains, give them their choice
It's either him, the star, the king, the hero
Or me, the man, the righteous, divided by zero
Divided by zero, zero dollars, zero friends
Zero promises, zero contracts, and zero loose ends
But a man is just a man, no myth and no glory
But to be just a man, is to write ones own story
How will it end, we know how it has begun
Will he fight, will he win, will he love anyone
Will his will, be executed, or his motives profane
Will he booze, will he lust, or will he abstain
I'm a man, just a man, no product of the divine
Just a man, amen, just a small slave to time
Slave to the wages, and wagers of war
A slave to the culture, not knowing what's in store
Just a man, X-Y, no quarrels, no bouts
Only a man, with no enemies, screams or shouts
Sure I have my problems, and yes they are real
Problems, of the heart, of the old hamsters wheel
So make up your minds, and phone in your choice
My life's at your mercy, the noose be your voice
To have in your power, a king for your land
Or to choose of your own, and give grace, to a man
