Guilt. Every human being who has ever been born has guilt ingrained within them. Within our psyche, guilt has been placed into our conscience, but why and by whom? When one looks back throughout the whole of human history there have been serial killers and murderers galore. There have been dictatorships that have ruled with an iron fist and slaughtered, through their armies, millions of men women and children.
Some people would say where was their guilt? Where was their conscience when they did such pogroms? It is interesting to note that the guilt and conscience that we are all born with and that develops within us is somehow stripped from us, when we become detached from the feelings of others.
This is never more so when atrocities are committed in the name of some leader, or ideology. Organisations like the Ku Klux Klan, who in the past slaughtered millions in their desire to keep the races apart, and to uphold the 'Southern way of life', seemingly had all their guilt stripped from them. This was necessary, in order to carry out the murders the bombings, the rapes and slaughter of whole families. Indeed, if you can see another human being as just an 'animal' and not a part of the human race, then why should you hold a conscience?
The same ideology was used by the National Socialists {Nazi Party.} It was Hitler who demonised a whole race of people, - the Jews. They where looked upon as nothing more than leaches, living off the hard work, of hard working Germans. When human beings can view another race in such a way, then where is the guilt or conscience when murders occur?
Terrorists are taught to look upon their enemies as lower than dogs. Therefore, when terrorist atrocities occur, and people are slaughtered, where then is the conscience? Where is the guilt? These examples are extreme examples of just what can happen when a person is taught to hate, and is indoctrinated into that hatred of another. Guilt or conscience is not shown, because to show it would mean having empathy with those that you do hate. That then becomes a weakness.
However, for the majority of us, our conscience is our guide. It is, indeed, our own personal judge and guides us along the pathway of life. If we do wrong, then our conscience kicks in, until we put right what we have done wrong. It is a judge that gently gnaws on our minds, that can even stop us from eating or sleeping.
It is a judge that is placed within the minds of us all. Some say that this comes from God Himself, that God
