A choice is the “power to select,” per Thesaurus. Wow, very powerful words and explains the concept we already know, that we have and do make our own choices. No, the definition doesn’t bring into the equation that we inherit the consequences of our choices. Oh well, we can’t have our cake and eat it too; or can we? We might if we always made the right and most appropriate choices but we know upfront that is not a “choice.” Why? Because we do not always know what the right choice is, unless of course we are choosing something that is honest over the dishonest. We know without hesitation that making a decision based upon integrity is the right choice, whatever the consequences are. Sometimes, the consequences do not always turn out as they should because there are so many factors that can play into making choices which can involve other people, whom we cannot control.
When we look around our society we can see so much heartache that is caused because someone made a choice that was inappropriate and many times could have been avoided. Often another individual reaps the consequences which they had no choice over and not any….control of. When we see these things in our immediate world we have to pray for forgiveness and get beyond hate. It is not always easy for those involved, but that is how we keep learning how important our choices are and try our best to influence others in making the right choices which are in black and white.
We find that some individuals make choices based upon the most compelling option. They do not listen to any advice they might have heard, and the consequences that could result. It just makes no difference, they are going to do this thing, or die. It is just irresistible and they have to make the choice as it is just too good to pass up. These people are chance takers to the core. They believe that you look at what is in front of you, you make the decision based upon what you see, not what could be. We agree that some chance taking is pertinent for our growth, but it is not always congruous. Yet, this type person must learn that when we make choice which can go either way for us, we can’t complain with the end results. It is time to then tuck it in and suck it up, or is that suck it up and tuck it in?…Doesn’t matter, does it? You made the choice, you deal
