There was a time when religion and science opposed each other, especially on the matter of creation. However, a lot of progress has been made over the last century and the gap between religion and science is getting narrower with the passage of time.
Isaac Newton was one of the first to admit the possibility of intelligence behind the existence of the universe. “This most beautiful system of the sun, planets and comets, could only proceed from the counsel and dominion of an intelligent and powerful Being.” - Isaac Newton (“General Scholium,” in Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy, Isaac Newton. 1687)
He understood that there were only two answers as to how everything came into being which is by random chance (something from nothing) or Creationism, which is the belief that humanity, life, the Earth, and the universe are the creation of God. As he learned more about the extreme complexity of our world he came to realize that it could not have happened by chance.
Essentially, the Big Bang is not the hot button issue. Many creationists agree with big bang theorists on several points. The debate rages over when it happen and what caused it. Creationists believe what the Bible says which is, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” They believe the earth was created and intelligently designed by God for man. Those who oppose the idea of a Creator believe the incredible notion that, “In the beginning there was nothing... and then it exploded!”
Nature itself demonstrates the existence of an intelligent Designer. Off the record, many scientists freely admit this but to publicly admit such a thing could mean an end to their career. This has already happened to a number of scientists who had the nerve to point out the many flaws in the theory of random chance.
Creation scientists are true professionals and not all of them are religious. Nevertheless, many of them have had to come to grips with the evidence. Facts are facts and over the last few decades the facts continue to point to creationism. Astronomers have made astounding progress over the last fifty years and they now have technology that enables them to see as far back as the very beginning of creation.
It’s an interesting fact that America is the most scientifically advanced nation on Earth yet more than half the people in America reject the theory of chance. This is mainly due to the fact that those who promote the theory
