Mens Extra is the perfect place for any guy who has had it with the female salon experience.  Tucked away in an upstairs storefront, on North Salem Street, in quaint downtown Apex, North Carolina, this "grooming lounge" for men and boys is a totally different experience than the usual haircut ordeal.  This is not your wife's or mother's salon!

At Mens Extra a guy can feel comfortable being a guy and not intimated by the whole girly salon thing, as Mens Extra caters to men only. The staff is friendly and makes everyone feel at home.  The decor is brick and leather and anything but girly.  Black and chrome dominate the decor and it feels "manly".

Mens Extra is owned and operated by Nancy Tivnan. She's worked in the hair grooming industry for over twenty five years. Nancy  understands that what a guy wants in a haircut and what a girl wants are totally different and it shows!  

While waiting for a hair cut guys have the option of playing pool, Foosball, darts or ping-pong.  Or watch the 50 in. screen television or play on the Wii. There are also complimentary adult beverages for dad and a soda for son.  This is a great place to father and son bonding and have a great time.

There are a wide variety of services available from beard or mustache trim to facials and neck massages. The great news is, this is also affordable!  A hair cut is $11 and a hair cut and wash is $15.  Each hair cut is finished off with a shave around neck and ears. There are Grooming Packages which include a facial massage and hot towels that start at $45.  

Walk-ins on regular hair cuts are welcomed but for the Grooming Packages appointments are necessary. They also offer a service to Grooms and their Best Men and the males in the wedding party to relax and spiff up for the wedding.  Call them to make arrangements for this service.

Mens Extra comes highly recommended by many regular guys in Apex, who are regular customers at Mens Extra.  Quite a few dads and sons have commented that they'll never go back to a salon or one of those cheap haircut factories after their adventure at Mens Extra.
