Search engines are perhaps the most important of websites. These are websites that search and find other websites and web pages. Web search engines include a text-box whereby certain keywords related to websites are entered. Then, the search engine will find a number of related web-pages and websites. Overall, there are two main types of search engine and a few top search engines.
Standard search engines:
The standard search engine are search engines that include their own database. As such, they tend to rely on their own database for searches. Overall, the majority of web search engines are more standard search engines.
The second type of search engine is that of the meta search engine. The meta search engine is one that searches multiple databases from other search engines. Overall, meta search engines can be more comprehensive than standard search engines, and may find a larger number of pages. However, the results of meta search engines may be less relevant to the keyword.
As such, the variety of web search engines are either standard search engines or meta search engines. The top search engine is that of Google search engine. Google search engine largely dominates the search engine scene, and has a larger market share than most of the rest collectively. Overall, Google is an effective standard search engine that will usually find some good websites and pages.
However, there are a few other notable search engine alternatives to Google. One of these is that of Bing. Bing is a more recent search engine that was established by Microsoft. As such, it features some good new options and features, and unlike Google usually includes an image for its background.
Then, there are search engines such as Ask Jeeves. Ask Jeeves is famous for its jovial butler, and as a search engine where more specific keywords can be input as questions. This is one of the more customisable search engines which has a variety of themes that can be selected from. Then, in addition to this Jeeves has a variety of outfits.
Of the meta search engines, WebCrawler is one of the best examples. This meta search engine combines some of the top search engines mentioned here, such as Google, Ask Jeeves, and Bing.
So, most of the top search engines are standard search engines such as Google, Bing, and Ask Jeeves. However, as an alternative there are also meta search engines such as WebCrawler which combine some of these, although their search results can be less relevant.
