Tips on how to find job openings before they are posted

Irrespective of the economy or not, people have to look for jobs in order to earn and look after themselves or their families.  This brings one to the point of looking out for jobs, applying to vacancies, posting online at job search sites and recruitment agencies or even registering with some of the major employment agencies in town.  However, at times, it is necessary that you find job openings before they are posted.  It gives you the added advantage of being the earliest to apply and also cancels out the need for further posting, should the company or employer find you a suitable candidate.

Here are some helpful tips on how to find job openings before they are posted.

*  Know the HR manager

It will be helpful for you if you knew the HR Manager.  This does not necessarily happen, but knowing a HR Manager personally or from some past interview experience at that organization will help you in getting to know a job opening before it is posted.  Take advantage of it, apply for the position and prepare yourself for a probable interview.

*  References

At times, when looking for a job, a good reference can direct you to probable job vacancies which are yet to be released.  Word of mouth, in this case is very helpful.  Many people land good paying jobs because someone has informed them of an upcoming job vacancy, which might be in a totally different firm.

* Staff employees

It will be helpful if staff from an organization can provide inside information about a job opening before it is posted by the HR department.  At times, staff themselves can provide information such as which department is hiring, who is resigning, etc.

* Ask around

Most often, in order to find that unannounced job opening, you have to talk to  people, make queries and let them know you are looking for a job.  Not having any particular skill, lack of experience or being fresh out of college, can be daunting moments when looking for a job that pays to sustain daily expenditure.  Here is where talking to friends and relative, or even people you accidentally come across, helpful, to let them know that you are in need of a job.  It is better to swallow your pride and ask around than to make pride lose your chances of getting a job position that is yet to be posted.

Generally recruitment agencies are not very helpful when it is related to job openings before they are posted.  Hence it is usually by meeting and talking to people, making queries and knowing some inside company information that can help land you that job.  It might take a while, but most can account for their jobs by these means.
