This is just one person's opinion so if you don't agree, that is completely fine. I might be rambling.... but this is what is on my mind.
Last night, in memory of September 11th, 2001, I watched the movie United 93. Though I highly doubt it was historically accurate (due to the fact we have no clue what happened before anyone got on the plane or what actyally happened on the plane other then what was said during calls made from that plane). Anyway, back to the point, I was gonna say that that was a very thought provoking movie.
It made me think about the inclining degeneration of our sociaty. 9/11 was a tragity. The world watched as we were attacked at home. It humbled us... but for how long? A year? I can honestly say that from what I observe, people (with the exclusion of people who have went through this tragity, those who lost loved ones, and those in the military, police department, fire department, and all those who protect and serve) are no longer humbled buy what had happened. Be honest, how often does that fateful day cross your mind. People show awemage on the anniversery of that day (if even), and go back to their lives the next.
The movie made me think of our selfish ways. Do you really appriciate what you have? How many of you appriciate the day that you are living? I realize that people don't appriciate what they have until it is taken away from them. We go around always wanting bigger and better, never taking time to give thanks for what we have. We wake up in the morning grumby about having to go in to work on our day off. Or complain because you have to stay late at work. Get irritated because your children are acting up. Get mad because your husband forgot your anniversery. Honestly, how many of us take time in the day to say 'thank you' for having a happy and healthy family, for having a job (be it good or bad), for getting a chance to LIVE TODAY! I will admit, sometimes I don't appriciate what I have.
People ask, "why us?" Well look at it from an outsider view. I thought about it last night. If I were from some third world country and I looked at the USA what would i see? I would see that I am starving... haven't eaten for days, where Americans grow fat and throw away more food in one day then some countries see in a year. I would see atheletes and entertainers get paid millions of dollars, when I don't have two pennys to rub together. I would see a society were people bursh past each other not taking the time for caring
