The iPhone is one of the best phones out there (at least to me). However sometimes I do experience some problems regarding the phone as there are times where the phone would suddenly freeze leaving me in the blue wondering what is happening. Ultimately I figured out a way to get through it and it was quite simple to me.
There are several ways to go through the problem.
Reset. I always find that after resetting the phone it would start up and be a better phone. I think with the previous firmware it was a little bit more complicated to force it to shut down as you would have to hold the screen button on the top right of the phone as well as the middle round button in front of the phone. Just two buttons to press for about 5 to 10 seconds, sounds easy but not with someone who has sweaty fingers and sweaty palms like me. The latest firmware (in my opinion) recognizes this and now it is much more easier as all you have to do is just press a single button that is the screen button on the top left for 5 to 10 seconds depending on whether you want to shut it down or force it to shut down. Easy! And useful for someone like me. Oh I do appreciate the geniuses in Apple's research department.
The other thing that you can possibly do is to upgrade the firmware to the latest firmware. I remembered I used to have an iPhone that hangs all the time especially when I'm making a call and I can't end the call because the device froze. Frustration indeed! After upgrading it the problems are eliminated though and now I have a perfectly and smoothly working iPhone. This is only if your device isn't jailbroken though. I guess I'm not that adventurous type so I'd rather let my iPhone be in its original firmware just to be on the safe side and besides Apple are always upgrading the firmwares eliminating mistakes of the previous ones.
The way I see it is there are two ways in approaching iPhone that freezes.
Number one is prevention. Preventing it is by way of simply updating it's firmware. Number two is when the device freezes then simply restart it by pressing the screen button until the device forces itself to shut down.
With all that being said, happy iPhone-ing!
