Guide to fall 2010 fashion trends

The 2010 Fall/Winter season is all about feminine retro chic, combined with a strong minimalistic flare.  Color Trends for 2010 paint a canvas of classic neutrals and striking hues. Camel, grey, beige oyster pinks and cream contrasted with strong black and navy create subtle, yet eye-catching silhouettes. For the more carefree at heart, khaki/olive green, tobacco and aubergine brown tones are a must. Reds and purples are key colors for hosiery; with thick, red tights and plum based hues being emphasized. Other important colors for Fall 2010 include; coral/fuchsia, orange, violet purple and teal/turquoise. The remaining options include gold and copper lames, citrine yellow and acid chartreuse bright green; all of which help to recreate the fresh and clean retro 80s vibe.

The womanly silhouette complete with shapely, clean-lined, minimal elements is in full force this season with fuller skirt silhouettes, and waisted coat styles being key.  Below the knee skirt fashions from the late 50s and early 60s have been rejuvenated with the popular influence of the hit television series ‘Mad Men,’ and contrasted with short skater skirts.  Another key trend this season is the ‘layer upon layer’ look; creating an uneven and delicate silhouette. Mixing it up with plush knit pieces, such as scarves and fur, in combination with Shearling, leather or suede for example, can express a personal mood or confident attitude.  When paired with leggings and high boots, or with the more relaxed style of a flared wide leg pants (on the appropriate body-type), this look can create a stunning silhouette.

The military influence is still going strong with an emphasis on unstructured blanket cape styles.  Or if you`re feeling daring, choose a checked wool cape or a leather bound cape for a more stylized approach.

Leather garments and accessories are back with gorgeous leather skirts for the Autumn of 2010. Sleek biker jackets, leather tunics and vests are all the rage; as well as leather bindings on winter wools, which make a bold substitute for this classic style.  Soft suede looks from leather garments, and accessories such as handbags, gloves and belts designed in orange tones and tan leathers, re-awakens the classic Hermès style.  More hot looks in accessories include the classic tailored structured bags like your great grandmother used to wear, along with weekender bags, and pretty and preppy satchels created
